Celebrate Hari Raya with laughter, beautiful outfits, and the joy of having the whole family together. When multiple generations gather under one roof, it’s the perfect moment to capture portraits that honour both your family legacy and the happiness of the present.

At White Room Studio, you’re in the hands of a team with over 75 years of combined portraiture experience, spanning family, children, pets and multi‑generation sessions. Since 2009, the studio has grown into one of Singapore’s most respected photography names, known for creating natural portraits, capturing real expressions.

Honoured with top industry accolades such as Tatler Asia’s Best Portrait Photographer and recently the Expat Living Readers’ Choice Awards 2026, White Room Studio has earned the trust of families who return year after year to capture life’s most meaningful moments.

Here are some of our favourite pose ideas for large Raya family sessions:

1. The Grand Generation Portrait

Every Raya celebration revolves around family heritage. A beautiful way to honour this is by placing grandparents at the centre of the portrait, surrounded by children and grandchildren.

This composition feels classic and meaningful, the kind of portrait that becomes a keepsake for generations.

Our spacious heritage studio, beautiful natural light, and relaxed environment allow genuine expressions to shine through.

2. A Relaxed and Joyful Candid

What one of our families had to say:

“The photographers were friendly and highly professional throughout the entire session. They showed remarkable patience as our photo shoot involved three generations, from a lively two-year-old to a 70-year-old grandparent. Coordinating positions and poses across such a wide age range naturally takes time, especially when young children are involved. They remained calm and accommodating, patiently waiting for my nephews and niece as they needed time to settle, ran around with excitement, and even had moments of tears. At no point did they rush us. Instead, they created a comfortable and supportive environment that allowed everyone to relax and enjoy the experience.

I would absolutely recommend engaging them to capture special moments in your life. The photos turned out beautifully and the entire experience felt warm and well-managed. Their studio is thoughtfully equipped with snacks for children, which made a big difference for young ones during the session. They also offer a variety of backdrops, from elegant oriental settings to vibrant and colourful themes, giving families options to suit different styles and preferences.

Importantly, the studio is spacious enough to accommodate large, multi-generational families. This is quite rare in Singapore, where not many studios are able to comfortably host big family groups. Overall, it was a meaningful and smooth experience, and we are grateful to have these memories preserved so thoughtfully.”

Some of the best Raya moments are the unplanned ones, laughter in the living room, conversations over kuih, children playing together.dan

A seated  arrangement or casual grouping on the floor can recreate that warm kampung feeling. Instead of everyone looking directly at the camera, allow for natural interactions and candid laughter.

These candid frames balance out the posed portraits and bring energy to your gallery.

Tip: A spontaneous “Selamat Hari Raya!” cheer or a joyful group hug can create dynamic, lively images that beautifully capture the festive spirit.

3. The Modern Editorial Line-Up

For families who prefer a clean and contemporary look, it works beautifully.

Instead of stiff, straight poses, slight angles of the body and subtle interactions between family members make the image feel natural yet refined. Coordinated colour palettes such as soft neutrals, sage green, or cream can elevate the overall look and give the portrait a polished, editorial feel.

This style is perfect for large families who want something sophisticated and timeless.

Large groups can be challenging to photograph, but our team of photographers are trained to adjust spacing, posture, and perspective to create a cohesive, magazine-worthy composition that feels sophisticated and timeless.

5. The Coordinated Colour Theme

With large families, colour coordination makes a big difference.

Whether you choose emerald green, soft pastels, or classic colours and gold, having a unified colour theme instantly makes the portrait look cohesive. It also ensures the final image feels visually balanced rather than overwhelming.

A simple palette allows expressions and emotions to take centre stage.

To help you look your best in these coordinated outfits, White Room Studio offers professional hair and makeup services right in the studio. Their experienced makeup artists will work with you to enhance your natural features and create a polished, camera-ready look.

6. Cousins-Only Moments

Cherish Raya moments with cousins and grandchildren in multi-generation portraits.

Don’t forget to break into smaller groupings during your session.

Cousins together, siblings portraits, or grandparents with just the grandchildren, these mini combinations add variety and give everyone their own special moment. These images are often the ones families treasure most as the children grow older.

Many families choose to preserve these special moments in our coffee table albums, canvas prints, or acrylic blocks, creating keepsakes and displays that can be enjoyed for years to come.
