White Room Studio offers newborn photography in Singapore for babies from birth to twelve weeks. Set in a 1927 Peranakan shophouse at 219 River Valley Road, we have photographed Singapore newborns since 2009. We are Tatler’s Best Portrait Photographer nine years in a row, 2017 to 2025.
Our photographers are trained in safe newborn handling and follow all current safety guidelines for posed newborn photography.

EVERYTHING PREPARED BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
Our studio at 219 River Valley Road is set up for newborns from the moment you walk through the door. The space is temperature-controlled — warm enough for a sleeping baby to stay comfortable throughout. We have a private feeding and changing area, a dedicated guest lounge with complimentary refreshments, and a team that moves quietly and without urgency.
Sessions take place entirely at your baby’s pace. If your newborn needs to feed, we pause. If they need to settle, we wait. We have never rushed a newborn session and we never will. Most sessions run around two hours, though we never watch the clock.
Our natural light comes through the tall shophouse windows on both floors — the second-floor Peranakan studio and the third-floor European Archway studio of our 1927 shophouse. It is warm, directional, and flattering to newborn skin in a way that artificial lighting simply cannot replicate.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR A NEWBORN PHOTOSHOOT?
Colour coordination is an important aspect of portraiture. Generally, earthy and pastel colours work best together. Simple outfits and neutral colours work best to complement your baby.

- Pre-Shoot Planning – we’ll contact you to discuss the photoshoot details, wardrobe advice, how to prepare your baby, what to bring, what to look out for.
- On the Day – arrive at the studio, meet your photographer, and step into a fun, easy-going photoshoot experience. Changing rooms are available, and outfit changes are welcome.
- Post-Production, Keepsakes & Delivery – we’ll be in contact for selection once the photos have been processed, retouch, decide on fine-art prints/albums/gifts, set a date for viewing.

Yes, when conducted by a trained and experienced photographer. At White Room Studio, our photographers follow all current safety guidelines for posed newborn photography. We never place babies in positions that cause discomfort or risk. Sessions are conducted in a warm, temperature-controlled environment at the baby’s pace. We have been photographing Singapore newborns safely since 2009.
We recommend booking your newborn session when your baby is between 5 and 21 days old. During this window, newborns sleep most deeply, curl most naturally, and are most comfortable in the gentle poses that create the most beautiful portraits. That said, you are never too late — we also photograph babies up to three months old, and we tailor each session to your baby’s age, from sleepy curled poses to bright-eyed expressions. We recommend booking in advance during your pregnancy to secure your preferred week.

Bring your baby, a few extra nappies, and any feeding supplies you normally use. We provide everything else — wraps, props, a warm studio, feeding and changing facilities, and complimentary refreshments for parents. Wear comfortable, neutral-coloured clothing if you would like to be included in the photos. We will send you a full preparation guide before your session.
Yes. Sibling portraits are one of the most treasured parts of a newborn session. We recommend bringing a sibling helper — another adult who can manage the older child while the photographer focuses on the newborn. We have experience photographing newborns with siblings of all ages and temperaments.
Most newborn sessions run around two hours, with feeding breaks, settling time and nappy changes all factored in. We never rush a newborn session — your baby sets the pace.
Of course. We have a private feeding area and encourage you to feed your baby whenever needed. A well-fed, settled baby makes for the most peaceful and beautiful photographs. The session is designed around your baby’s natural rhythms.
We recommend booking during your third trimester — from around 28 weeks of pregnancy. This ensures availability during your preferred window (5 to 21 days after birth). We hold a tentative booking and confirm once your baby arrives.
