We spend so much time photographing first birthday cakes, family milestones and graduation gowns capturing every version of our children as they grow. But somewhere in the busyness of family life, we forget to do the same for the people who made all of it possible: Grandma and Grandpa.
Think about the last time you took a real photo of your grandparents. Not the one from a family dinner where everyone’s squeezed in, phone tilted at a weird angle, someone blinking. A proper photograph. One that catches who they actually are, the warmth in their eyes, the way they hold your child’s hand like they’ve done it a thousand times before.
That’s the gift nobody thinks to give. A proper portrait session with Grandma and Grandpa.
In celebration of the ones who spoil us most, enjoy $50 OFF your Grandparents’ Portrait Session! 👵👴
Since grandparents usually have the most flexibility on weekdays anyway, weekday sessions also run $100 less than weekends/public holidays.

WHY A FAMILY PORTRAIT WITH GRANDPARENTS MATTERS
Multi-generation photoshoot in White Room Studio’s natural light photo studio
Grandparents rarely ask for anything. They’ll tell you not to spend money on them, that they don’t need a fuss. But a portrait isn’t about needing, it’s about remembering. It’s for the grandchildren who’ll want to know what their grandparents’ smile really looked like. It’s for the family album that, years from now, becomes the most-opened one in the house, the one everyone crowds around during family gatherings.
If you’re bringing the whole family along for the ride, kids, grandkids, maybe even the family dog, here’s how to prepare for a multi-generation family photoshoot so nobody’s scrambling on the day.
WHEN TO BOOK A PHOTOSHOOT WITH GRANDPARENTS
You don’t need a big occasion but if you’re looking for the right moment, here are a few that make it easy:
- A milestone birthday (60th, 70th, 80th, 90th celebration)
- A wedding anniversary, especially the big ones, 25th, 40th, 50th
- Becoming a grandparent for the first time!
- A festive family reunion, like a year-end gathering or Chinese New Year
- Or simply because it’s time, and there’s no better reason than that
We had a family portrait photo shoot at White Room Studio to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday. The experience was a blast! Our photographer was even able to get my niece and nephews’ cooperation. I was really pleased with the photos in the viewing session yesterday evening. Absolutely no regret choosing WRS!

The studio was really pretty and our photographer Delun was super patient and kind! My grandparents were a bit nervous at the shoot and he went above and beyond to make them feel comfortable. The whole experience was amazing and the photos turned out great as well. Thank you guys so much!

WHY WEEKDAYS ARE THE BEST TIME TO BOOK A FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT
Grandparents and grandkids laughing together during a multi-generation photoshoot in a natural light photo studio
Here’s the part most people don’t realise. Grandparents usually have flexible weekday availability, which makes scheduling far easier than trying to coordinate everyone’s weekend. A short weekday session, an hour or so, is usually all it takes. Curious what the session itself feels like? Here’s a look at our studio experience.
You could book it as a surprise gift, or turn it into an outing the whole family looks forward to. Bring the grandkids along, three generations in one frame, a quiet weekday afternoon that becomes a photo you’ll keep forever.
A PHOTOSHOOT GIFT IDEA FOR GRANDPARENTS
Grandparents give so much and ask for so little in return. A portrait session is one of the few gifts that isn’t about things it’s about presence, memory, and time. Something to hang on the wall, hold in a frame, or pass down one day.
So this season, consider giving the special gift nobody thinks to give. Book a weekday session for your grandparents because a moment like this deserves to be more than a phone photo in a group chat.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a multi-generation photoshoot?
It’s a dedicated photoshoot bringing grandparents, parents, and grandkids together in one session, whether as a full group, in smaller combinations, or with a few solo portraits of Grandma and Grandpa mixed in. It’s a popular choice for milestone birthdays, anniversaries, or simply as a heartfelt gift with no occasion needed.
Can we include grandchildren and the whole family in the session?
Absolutely! Most grandparents’ sessions are booked as multi-generation shoots, grandparents, parents, and grandkids together, alongside a few solo or duo portraits of just Grandma and Grandpa.
So invite your extended family for a fun-filled portraiture session — our spacious 2-floor studio shophouse is ideal for big families and multi-generation photoshoots!
Where is White Room Studio located?
White Room Studio is located at 219 River Valley Road, Singapore, within a restored 1927 heritage shophouse known for its natural light and timeless portrait settings.
What should we wear for a multi-generation photoshoot?
Coordinated outfits but not matching works best, think of a shared colour palette across three generations rather than identical outfits. Soft, neutral tones tend to photograph beautifully together and won’t clash with each other.
For more outfit ideas, check out our Family Portraiture Lookbook.
What timings are available?
The earliest timeslot starts at 9am and the latest is 5pm. Do let us know which timeslot you prefer and we will do our best to accommodate your preferred date and timing.
