There are gifts that are opened and forgotten within days, and then there are gifts that quietly become part of a family’s life for years.
A Mother’s Day photoshoot belongs to the second category.

Why Studio Photography Matters in Singapore?

Two-storey colonial shophouse with 12 natural light settings
In Singapore, where life moves quickly and families are constantly juggling work, school, and commitments, moments with mothers often pass without being properly captured. Mothers are usually the ones taking the photos, not appearing in them. Years go by, and suddenly there are very few images where mothers are truly present.
A professional Mother’s Day photoshoot changes that.
At White Room Studio, we’ve seen this meaning unfold for over 17 years. More than 17,000 families have walked through our doors, each with their own reason — newborn arrivals, birthdays, reunions, or simply the desire to slow down time for a moment. But Mother’s Day carries a particular emotional weight. It is one of the rare occasions where families intentionally gather not just to celebrate a mother, but to document her place at the centre of the family.
A Heritage Studio Experience
Eliza and her mother at White Room Studio
What makes this even more powerful is that these sessions are not rushed. They take place in our 2-storey corner colonial shophouse studio in Singapore, a space that was never designed to be generic. It was designed specifically for family storytelling. Natural light fills the rooms, and each corner has been carefully shaped over the years to create a different mood and atmosphere. European-inspired sets, giving families a variety of looks within a single session. There is even a guest and pantry space where families can settle in comfortably, especially helpful when working with young children or grandparents.
This kind of environment matters more than people realize. When families feel comfortable, the photographs stop feeling like “posing” and start feeling like “being.”
And that is where the real magic happens.
“Studio has great lighting, several beautiful backdrops and nice changing room. Did a mother-daughter photoshoot on 2 levels with 2 outfits with our photographer Justin, who was really enthusiastic and energetic throughout the shoot. I could tell he was attentive to details, advised us on our outfit pairings, gave a lot of clear directions so there was hardly any awkward moments or poses, and I like that he asked me if we had a ‘good side’/whether we preferred our left or right profile. I also appreciated that in between the shoot, he would give us short breaks, allow us to review the photos and asked if there was anything else we wanted to try. Thanks Justin for making the experience comfortable and pleasant for us. We like how the photos turned out as well !” – Hui Ting Teo
Experienced Family Photographers in Singapore
From the sweetest gaze to in between moments, we capture it all.
Our photographers play a huge role in this experience. Over the years, they have worked with thousands of families, from toddlers who refuse to sit to grandparents who are shy in front of the camera. The skill is not just in taking a technically perfect photo, but in guiding people gently into moments that feel natural and honest. That is what separates experienced family photographers from everything else.
This is also why White Room Studio has been trusted for so long, and recognised consistently over the years, including multiple Tatler recognitions across nearly a decade. Awards in this space are not just decorative — they reflect consistency, trust, and a standard that families return for again and again.
