Having a baby is a joyous and wonderful event, a cause for celebration! In Singapore, traditionally many Chinese parents will throw a full month or ‘full moon’ party after the baby’s first full month to welcome and introduce the baby to friends and relative. However, recently more parents are going for a 100-days celebration instead.
It’s a trend that is gaining popularity within these few years locally – 100 Days Old Celebration! Traditionally, Koreans celebrate their newborns’ first 100 days of birth (Baek-il 백일) as a significant milestone. Over in Japan, an okuizome ceremony awaits the 100-day-old baby. Babies are “fed” a traditional, full-course meal to signify a lifelong abundance of good food.
In Singapore, many parents celebrate this beautiful milestone by throwing a grand celebration (instead of the traditional man-yua, Full Month Party) and/or have a professional photoshoot for the baby! Close relatives are often invited to the shoot as well, making for a wonderful get-together and pictures taken.
Difference between a newborn and a 100 day-old baby? At almost 3 months old, baby is a lot chubbier, their gaze are much more alert and many are starting to smile or even chuckle! Tummy-time is a breeze now and your baby loves communicating with you (baby language goo goo ga ga!!).
All these makes for wonderful photographs, both as keepsakes as well as gifts to grandparents and relatives!

“After 100 days of being a mommy, I am finally getting the hang of it. I’m starting to understand my baby more and we had gotten into a good routine. Not just that, I feel better about myself and more confident too! She was so cute when she was a newborn, and I love it more now that she’s chubbier and has started to smile and coo at me. To all new moms, it’s true, it does gets easier. Hang in there!”
“Thank you for the pictures. I am feeling my 100% on this 100th day!”
After giving birth, most new moms take about six to eight weeks to recover fully. Moms who had C-section delivery might need a little longer, and sometimes simply aren’t feeling themselves quite yet. A 100 day-old shoot will ensure you have more time to get back in shape and look and feel your best for those cherished all-important family photos! Also, families with young toddlers (now promoted to Elder Sister or Brother!) will have had more time and gotten used to their little sibling and bonded with her.
While Newborn shoots are serene and precious, 100 day-old shoot are very magical as well! With a good feeding schedule established, everybody is much more on track and of course, baby looking so cherub and alert (Hello Baby Fats and Chubby Cheeks!). It is a great time for picture-taking either in studio or have one of our award-winning photographer over to your home for shoot!
