Taking Our First Steps With Clara’s Family! 👣
In 2009, White Room Studio had a booth at the annual Pet Expo Show where we captured an instant photograph of Clara with her family and dog, forging a lasting friendship. Six years later, in 2015, we photographed Clara’s family in celebration of her son’s first birthday at Botanic Gardens. And now, fast forward today, we had the honor of capturing her daughter’s first birthday milestone.

As you step into the park, you’ll be greeted by a scenic lakeside view and the calming sounds of nature. There’s no lack of room for young children to roam and have fun by themselves!

What To Expect For An Outdoor Cake Smash Photoshoot 🎂
1. First things first, let’s talk cake. You’ll want to choose a cake that’s both delicious and aesthetically pleasing – after all, it’s going to be the star of the show.
White Room Studio has partnered with Caramelloz, a local artisanal bakery to bring you 8 unique custom cakes for cake smash photoshoots, so you can get creative with the design and colour! You can even request for the cakes to be made egg-less, dairy-free, or sugar-less in case of any allergies.
2. As for the actual cake smash photoshoot, be prepared for a mess! It’s called a “smash” for a reason – your little one is going to dive right in.
Make sure to bring plenty of wipes and a change of clothes for your child (and maybe even for yourself!). Don’t worry about the aftermath as our photography assistant will be there to clean up and make sure the place is left spotless!
3. Timing is key, and we’ll be ready to capture every moment as it happens. This is where our experience as professional family photographers comes into play, as we know how to anticipate your child’s movements and reactions, capturing the perfect shots at just the right time.

How To Prepare For An Outdoor Cake Smash Photoshoot
When planning a photoshoot at Upper Peirce Reservoir, we kept in mind that the area can get quite hot and humid, so it’s best to schedule the shoot either early in the morning or later in the afternoon when the weather is cooler.
It’s also important to pack insect repellent whenever you’re in the great outdoors!
Feel free to bring along props as well, which can be your kid’s soft toy or favourite item. The peaceful ambience at the reservoir and quietness of the space (no one was around!) created such a fairy tale-esque, dreamy feel to the photoshoot. Le Fairy Meadow provided all the beautiful props that you see in this photoshoot.
What’s After The Cake Smash Photoshoot?
Post-processing is another crucial aspect of creating beautiful photos. As professional photographers, we’ll work to edit and enhance your photos to bring out the best in each image.
We’ll take care to preserve the colours, textures, and atmosphere of the photoshoot, while also adding some artistic flair to the final images.
1-2 weeks after your shoot, we’ll invite everyone back for a personalised viewing session of all your best photographs. You’ll be able to select your favourite pictures in the comfort and privacy of our head office. We’ll offer advice on selecting displays for your home, and you can discuss ideas with our friendly team.
