Kirsten Perry is an international educator and social-emotional learning (SEL) consultant currently living in Singapore. She has over 16 years of experience driving systems-level change in P-12 schools. Her career spans direct school counseling, district leadership, higher education instruction and state-level governance. As a school counselor in Chicago Public Schools, Kirsten led data-driven interventions that resulted in measurable improvements in academic performance and school climate. For this work, she was named the American School Counselor Association’s (ASCA) National School Counselor of the Year in 2018 and was honored by Michelle Obama.

Recently, Kirsten published a book titled, The ABCs of Social Emotional Learning for School Counselors and Administrators. The book features contributions from 19 practitioners and scholars selected for their demonstrated ability to lead systemic SEL initiatives in schools.

Austin Thompson started diving at ten years old and has earned ten diving certifications, including Rescue Diver, Deep Diver, and Night Diver. He has completed over 100 dives and holds the Master Scuba Diver certification, which requires 60+ logged dives and multiple advanced certifications.

Scuba diving has been a major part of his life outside of school and his studies in electrical engineering. He also participates in his school’s underwater robotics competitions.

Kathy Lee is the CEO of a Singapore-based company focused on environmental technology research, technological innovation, and the development of AI-powered sustainable recycling robotics. Her work centers on building intelligent recycling solutions that bring together engineering, sustainability, and long-term environmental impact with the goal of creating technologies that are both practical and future-focused.

“When New York Weekly reached out with an interview invitation, professional business portraits were needed for the feature. I felt genuinely excited and at the same time, a little nervous. Knowing the photos would appear in an international publication made everything feel very real, and I knew the images needed to look more formal and business-focused than my usual style.

“At the same time, I also knew one thing very clearly: I didn’t want a stiff or overly serious ‘boss-style’ photo. I wanted the portraits to reflect who I am as a CEO, someone with personality, perspective, and individuality. That’s why I prepared two different outfits and paired them with boots, hoping the look would feel confident, modern, and slightly unconventional. I’ll admit, I was a bit worried at first, worried that the photographer might not fully understand what I was trying to express.”
