Where Creativity Meets Compassion
This sincere partnership goes beyond simply combining expertise, it represents a dedication to creating a positive influence on the lives of young individuals. Our collaborative initiative with Impart is embodied in a 6-week program called “Lens“.
Impart, an IPC and full member of the National Council of Social Services, aspires to see a Singapore where each youth is empowered within nurturing communities. The cornerstones of their impactful initiatives are Education, Mental Health Care, and Community, shaping the essence of their commitment.
This program combines the acquisition of photography skills through our photographer and therapeutic engagement in a group setting facilitated by Impart’s Team. The culmination of this journey will be marked by a photo exhibition showcasing the work of five talented youths who have undergone the program.
The Purpose Behind the Lens: Photography for the Community
Through the art of photography, we provide a space for these youths to express themselves freely and uniquely. It’s more than just capturing images, it is about finding their voice and telling their stories through the lens.

Photography is about capturing the essence of people and the beauty of places. The youths embark on a visual exploration of their surroundings, finding inspiration in the diversity that shapes their lives. Through the magic of editing, they learn to enhance their narratives and communicate their distinctive perspectives.

White Room Studio’s photographer, Jia Meng shares his thoughts:
We can’t choose the situation we are thrust into, but we can choose from which angle or perspective to observe it from. The workshop has enabled me to give these youths a glimpse to an alternate path which they can observe as well as walk on towards a brighter future.
At White Room Studio, we believe in the power of perspective. Through this program, it advocates the youths’ perspective, allowing them to be heard and understood through their own unique lens. Each photograph becomes a testament to their experiences, struggles, and triumphs.
The Journey Through the Lens

The culmination of this journey was an exhibition held on November 14, graced by special guests — Mr. Albert Lim (Chairman of Impart), Mr. Joshua Tan, (renowned Actor & Singer from “Ah Boys To Men” Singapore movie), and Dr. Lee Cheng (Clinical Director, Office of Population Health, Institute of Mental Health).
Their presence adds a touch of prestige to the event, highlighting the importance of mental health and creative expression in our community.
White Room Studio is proud to be a part of this transformative initiative. Through the lens, we aim to capture not just images but the essence of hope, resilience, and the untapped potential within every youth facing adversity.
